|   | Marji Geuther marjigeuther@gmail.comThis will be my 5th year with Woodlands Fit. After training on my own for my first marathon, I knew there had to be a better way. I have run 2 full marathons, and 3 half marathons, and have decided I like the half much better! I am planning to do the San Antonio and Houston half marathons this year. When not running, I am “Mom” to three kids, have been married for 27 years, and work part-time at Luke’s Locker. Looking forward to running with you! | |

| Scott Brian scot330@comcast.net Head Coach I first joined Woodlands Fit in July 2003 as a lifestyle change. Being grossly overweight and having just quit smoking a year before, I joined the walkers and walked off 20 pounds on my way to walking my first marathon. The natural progression and appeal after walking was clear and in my second year with Woodlands Fit I was able to start running. With running and healthy food choices I was able to shed 50 more pounds in order to get to the healthy weight which running helps me maintain today. It is a really neat feeling getting high-fived by your doctor because your weight and all of your blood work is where it should be. Since that first day in 2003 I have been hooked. I have run 3 ultras (50K), 13 Marathons and more 25K, halves, 10K and 5K races than I can remember. I am blissfully married to Diana who is the Winter Coach of the walking group. We have one son and a granddaughter. Woodlands Fit is more than a marathon/half marathon training program on a piece of paper or website. It is also a group from which you develop lifelong friendships as well as seek support and advice. Do not hesitate to seek either from peers, coaches and veterans. | ||
| Barbara Santi BSanti@mindspring.com Assistant Coach Salve! I’m originally from Italy and I have lived here for 21 years. Being a mom of a 9 and a 7 year old, running is my way of relaxing and doing something for myself. I’ve been running on and off since I was in high school beside my Dad who used to be a Marathon runner and a great inspiration. I’ve been with Woodlands Fit since 2003 and this will be my 4th year as an Assistant Coach for the Blue/Green Group. I originally joined the program in the Red Group and since then I’ve ran 2 ultras (50K), 10 marathons, 4 half marathons, 25K and The Texas Independence Relay. Through the years I’ve met many wonderful people and made lots of friendships and that is what keeps me coming back each year. We all run for various reasons and only we realize the rewards we get from running and how great it is to share this sport with others. I am looking forward in meeting all of you, helping you stay motivated to reach your goals and being part of another exciting season. Ciao! | ||
| Derek Bailey derek.bailey@hotmail.com Assistant Coach I am coming to the end of my first year at Woodlands Fit. I got into running to stay in shape. A friend once suggested I try it competitively and told me about Woodlands Fit. One thing led to another and I ended up in a grudge match with my brother at the Houston marathon. Three marathons after joining I’m addicted. My next marathon on my agenda is NYC 2010. I’m a true redneck from Oklahoma who moved here after college for work. I’m married to the most incredible girl ever (Christie) of two years, whom I have great faith I will talk into running with me some day. We have no kids and one dog. My dear wife would be the first to tell you I’m not as crazy as you’d think, but much worse. I’ve met a lot of great friends and contacts since joining the group and am looking forward to a great season of running. | ||
![]() | Skip Moschell pemoschell@marathonoil.com Assistant Coach This is my second year with Woodlands Fit and it's a great group of dedicated runners. I grew up playing soccer and ran for training most of my life, but never competed in a race until about 8 years ago. I've only completed 5 marathons and three halves, but enjoy many of the local events in the Woodlands & Houston. This Spring, I've focused on speed work and competed in several shorter events including 3 downtown 10k's & the Huntsville 25k. My next marathon is Chicago on 10/10/10.

Amber Brock abrock@mcgriff.com Head Coach This is my 6th year running with Woodlands Fit. I’ve run with all Woodlands Fit color groups and been an assistant coach with the Yellow group for a few years. This is my first time as the head coach and I can’t wait for another great running season. I’ve run 6 marathons, numerous half marathons and 25ks. I was part of a crazy group of Woodlands Fitters who completed the Marathons of Texas challenge a few months ago to run 3 Texas marathons in 62 days. I’ve also participated in the Texas Independence Relay. I am married to Andy (a fellow runner and triathlete) and we have a daughter named Lexi Grace (almost 2), who you may often see on Saturday mornings. I originally joined Woodlands Fit so that I would never have to do a long run alone. Through the program, I met my husband and many of my closest friends. I have found a support network that can’t be beat and the encouragement to try things I never thought possible. This is a program that can change your life in so many ways. I look forward to getting to know all of you on the roads and to developing friendships that can last a lifetime.
![]() | Colleen Brown cebrown2524@yahoo.com Assistant Coach This is going to be my 2nd year running with the woodland fit program and I couldn’t be more excited to get started! I took up running in college as a way to stay in shape, and ran my first marathon before graduating my senior year . After graduating college and moving to Houston I continued running as a way to stay in shape, and after a few years away from racing got an itch to run another marathon. So Last year I decided to join woodlands fit, and since joining I have completed 1 marathon 4 ½ marathons and 1 triathlon. In my free time while I am not at work or running, I am currently planning my wedding for this upcoming November and spending time with my Fiancé Brandon and our Dog Mia! My favorite part of the woodlands fit program is our Saturday long runs and I can not wait to run them with a new set of faces!
| Lisa Schulze Lisa.G.Schulze@lonestar.edu Assistant Coach I began running for the first time in my life at the age of 43. After two weeks in Luke's Beginning to Run program, I was hooked! I went from zero to three miles in about 8 weeks, and after that, I just kept adding a mile or two each week until I could run about 10 miles. I soon join Woodlands Fit it train for and run my first half marathon. My husband is the person who inspired me to run; he has been running with Woodlands Fit for about four years and has completed two marathons and one half marathon. We live in Magnolia and have two elementary aged boys. When I am not running, I work as an English professor at Lone Star College. I am looking forward to another great season of running and meeting new running friends. | ||

Beth Whitehead bethwhitehead@comcast.net Head Coach Welcome to Woodlands Fit!!! My husband Chris and I moved here from Birmingham Alabama in 1999 after falling in love with the running trails in The Woodlands. I have been a runner since college participating in 5k/10ks and a few biathlons. I decided after the birth of my second child that I was going to run my first marathon. So in 2005 I joined Woodlands Fit and did just that. I could not have achieved this goal without my wonderful coach Scott Brian and all the new supportive friends I had met thru the program. Since then I have run 4 marathons and 9 half marathons. I have also been actively involved with Woodlands Fit- I have coached, been assistant coach, weekly run organizer and social event planner. When I am not running, I am a full time Mommy and cheerleader to my future runners Ella (7) and Jack (6) and I also work part-time as a pharmacist. I will be forever grateful for this wonderful program and the friendships I have made. I am looking forward to another great season with Woodlands Fit, making new friends and seeing old ones and supporting you in achieving your running goals.

Bob Bailey bob.bailey@gemsals.com Head Coach Welcome to Woodlands Fit This is my second year with Woodlands Fit. I had such a good time last year, that I decided I wanted to get more involved. I met a great group of people last year. I began running by way of cycling. I started cycling nine years ago in part to lose weight and to rehabilitate from a knee injury. My wife began running marathons at about the same time. I would ride my bike at the Houston Marathon to track her progress. I caught the marathon fever and have completed six marathons now. Never was my marathon training as much fun as it was last year. It was also a learning experience. I do not believe I could have finished the marathon last year if it were not for Liz Berry, our coach. She helped me recover from a nagging muscle pull and changed my attitude towards stretching. I look forward to running in Woodlands fit with my wife, Carolyn and everyone in the Red group, (Especially Kathleen, Jimmy, Nancy, Kathy and Bill - We had a blast last year in Houston and in Austin).
| Rachael Wilcox-Pereira rachaelwp@yahoo.com Assistant Coach This is my fourth year running with Woodlands Fit and second year as assistant coach. I’ve been running since I was in high school but only got into running long distance about eight years ago and have been addicted since then. I’ve run two marathons, several half marathons and several 25K trail runs. I have a B.S. in Health and finishing a Masters in Sport Management (May 2010) and have a passion for health and fitness in general. I’ve enjoyed running with the group the last three seasons and look forward to the upcoming year! | ||

| Alison Cravey alicravey@gmail.com Head Coach You probably already know me as a former sales associate at Luke's Locker here in The Woodlands. I'm the mother of three boys, a runner and an active participant in the running community. I participate in local races whenever I can and I've assisted with locally coached running programs both in front of and behind the whistle. My initiation into running was with Houston Fit almost 8 years ago when I trained for the Houston Marathon. Since then I've logged hundreds of miles and hours of training, and have run several half marathons and 3 full marathons. I'm very excited about being a part of Wooldands Fit - Fall Fit this year as the Head Coach for the Half Marathon Program - I certainly know what it's like to sweat blood and earn the pride of accomplishment when crossing the finish line. I choose to live by this quote: "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right" - Mark Twain | ||

| Christi Moore wishimaygirl@gmail.com Assistant Coach I started running soon after my son was born 13 years ago. It was a way to get out and enjoy some exercise while pushing him in the jogging stroller. Thirteen years later, I am still running (no longer pushing a stroller) and enjoy running more than ever. I love to run alone and listen to music or run with friends and catch up on our busy daily lives. For many years, I ran just for exercise and never entered a race until last year. In 2009, I ran several races for fun including 10 for Texas (my first race ever!) and the San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon. So far in 2010, I participated in The Bill Crews Remission Run, the Blue Bell Fun Run in Brenham, and the Texas Independence Relay (203 of the best miles I've ever run with girlfriends). I am registered for the San Antonio full marathon again for 2010 and plan to run several half marathons this year too (Boston, Los Angeles). This year I joined The Bill Crews Remission Run planning committee and am proud to be involved with a non-profit charitable organization that blends running with fund-raising and cancer research. Additionally, I love to incorporate traveling with running and frequently train in Mahahual, Mexico where I have a condominium and a beachfront vacation home. In Mexico, I own and operate a fitness vacation getaway program and while in the US, my husband and I own an automotive repair company in The Woodlands and I am a partner in a faux finishing company. I am very much looking forward to helping with the Fall Fit program and can't wait to get running! | ||

| Liz Kuitu edkuitu@gmail.com Assistant Coach I flirted with running throughout high school and college and did it mainly to "stay in shape." I moved to The Woodlands after college and discovered that this place is overflowing with good places to run! When I met my now fiance he was training for his first marathon and we began doing his "long" Saturday runs together...this increased my distance and we were both subsequently hooked on running and the time outdoors. As time passed we have met several dear friends who share this passion, which has brought me here to Woodlands Fit! I participate in local races when I can (be it trails or concrete), and I have done 2 half marathons. I am pumped to be involved with this group - let's get sweaty! | ||
![]() | Nick Brown nmbrown82@gmail.com Assistant Coach This is my first season with Woodlands Fit after almost 2.5 years of running on my own. I have run the Houston Marathon as well as several half marathons and a handful of other races. The most memorable of all of them was the Houston Rodeo 10K where I proposed to the gorgeous girl with the profile right above mine! During the week I'm an airline pilot so I get to run in a variety of cities throughout the year. I'm really excited about getting out there and grinding out some miles with everyone and having a good time. See ya at the finish line

| Ali Yarborough jon_and_alicia@yahoo Assistant Coach Hi I'm Alicia Yarborough, but everyone calls me Ali. I started running two and a half years ago in order to run half marathons with my husband, but it took me a full year before I finally started to like and enjoy longer distances than 3 miles. Just as I was completing the Beat program last spring I found out I was pregnant with our first child and took a break from running. I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in December and started over with the Spring Fit program this past February. I am really looking forward to training with the red group and running the 10 for Texas in the fall, the Houston Half in January and ultimately the Disney Princess Half Marathon in March! Can't wait to make some new running friends and achieving our goals together. | ||

![]() | Leticia Gonzalez leticiagonzalez@prodigy.net Assistant Coach Hi, I’m Leticia, but you can call me “Letty”. I am looking forward to being an assistant coach. This will be my third season with Woodlands Fit. I ran cross country and track in high school, but I had not done much running since then. About four years ago, I trained for my 1st half marathon on my own. I achieved my goal but decided I wanted to improve my time. Then I found Woodlands fit. What a difference. Training with Woodlands fit is definitely the way to go. You get the support you need when you feel like giving up; you get expert advice from professionals during the many seminars offered throughout the season; and along the way you meet and make new friends who share your interests and goals. My goal for this season is to complete the San Antonio and Houston half marathons. Let’s Go!

Ruth Fields fieldshouse@earthlink.net Head Coach I ran my first race, a half marathon, when I was a freshman at Texas A&M and have been running ever since. In 2005, after training with Woodlands Fit, I finally fulfilled a lifelong goal of running a full marathon. I have now "streaked" six Houston Marathons and have finished four others for a total of ten marathon finishes. I have also run 11 half marathons and have been the team captain of a Texas Independence Relay team for three years. This is my seventh season with Woodlands Fit and my second as head coach. In my other life, I have been married almost 28 years to an Aggie classmate and fellow runner. We have three kids; two are in college, leaving only one in the nest. My "day job" is writing for the Conroe Courier. I am thankful for the continued blessing of being able to run. To quote a great T-shirt I saw on a fellow runner at the Houston Marathon one year, "There will come a day when I can no longer run 26.2 miles. Today is not that day."
![]() | Jami Kuder jkuder@consolidated.net Assistant Coach This is my 5th year with Woodlands Fit. This will be my third year as an assistant coach with the Yellow Group. I have run 7 marathons and numerous half marathons. I also have completed the Marathons of Texas challenge of 3 marathons in 62 days last year with a great group of people from Woodlands Fit as well as participating in the Texas Independence Relay. I have always been a runner and really enjoy running as a way of losing weight and staying fit. I truly believe if you stick to running it will transform your life and health. Woodlands Fit is a great place to find the camaraderie you need to get you through marathon training and a marathon as well as provide the tools you will need to do it injury free. I am here all season and please don't hesitate to ask me anything. I am not an elite runner by any means, but I truly enjoy running and look forward to sharing my passion for the sport. When I am not running I am a wife to my husband Jason and a mother to a 3 yr old Jackson.
![]() | Michelle McGill michelle@herpin.net Assistant Coach I've been running with Woodlands Fit for four seasons and have been looking forward to running with the group again for a fifth season. This is my second season as an assistant coach. I have now run eight marathons, including the "marathons of Texas" triad for the past two years. I have also run several half marathons and was on a Texas Independence Relay team this year. Running with Woodlands Fit has been a good experience because it has given me the opportunity to run with friends, to meet new ones and to help support new and experienced runners. When I'm not running, I enjoy spending time with my very supportive husband and three great kids, who are 23, 11 and 6.
![]() | Richard Yarp ryarp@yahoo.com> Assistant Coach Other than a couple of seasons (2005 & 2006) I have been running with Woodlands Fit since it first began in the summer of 2002. For many years I had an objective to run a marathon and after seeing an add in the Villager about a new training program coming to The Woodlands I decided to sign up and give it a try. I had run a lot in my 20’s, completing a ½ marathon in 1983, but had never tried the marathon distance before. I enjoyed that inaugural year running with the Red Group and finished my first Houston Marathon in January of 2003. It was an amazing experience crossing the finish line that first time. In subsequent years I ran with the Yellow Group and completed 3 more (2004, 2005, and 2008). This past season I ran the Austin ½ marathon in February. The last three years I have also participated in the Texas Independence Relay, a 203 mile team relay with fellow yellow coaches Ruth and Richard Zainfeld and 9 others, several of them alumnae of Woodlands Fit. I have really enjoyed my time with Fit and have made many friends out here on the Saturday long runs. I am looking forward to this new season and the opportunity to share what I have learned with those of you new to marathon training.
![]() | Richard Zainfeld Richard.Zainfeld@hp.com Assistant Coach This is my 8th year with Woodlands Fit. I had never run over 6 miles before joining Woodlands Fit. It is a great way to train. The long runs are so much better when you are running with friends. I ran my 1st Houston marathon in 2004 and have run every one since (7 total). I have also run Austin, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, San Antonio, Dallas, Seabrook, and one marathon in Korea as well as two ultras. I run marathons because it is gives me a goal, is good exercise, and is an accomplishment that not everyone does. I love the camaraderie and support of the people in Woodlands Fit and the whole running community. I have always followed the Jeff Galloway run/walk method. I run 9 minutes then walk 1 minute. This has worked well for me and I am happy to discuss the pros and cons with anyone. I also play Ultimate Frisbee several times a week. Let me know if anyone ever wants to play Ultimate. I have a wonderful wife of 31 years this October, 4 great kids (28, 25, 24, and 21), and two grandkids (4 and 2). Grand parenting is the best! My wife and I and 3 out of 4 kids all graduated from UT. My youngest is a junior there now. I look forward to another rewarding season with Woodlands Fit and getting to meet some new people. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to share all that I know.
![]() | Sabina Lorca sabina_lorca_m@hotmail.com Assistant Coach Hello everybody! I’m Sabina, I’m originally from Santiago de Chile, and arrived about 10 years ago to the States. I was always active in High School, played soccer, tennis and field hockey. I began running in college just to stay in shape, never really thought about running marathons at all, I wasn’t even aware about the ridiculous amount of races that go on in Texas and the world every month. It was because of a family member that talked about running the Houston Half in 2008 that I began running more intensively. I thought, “hmmm maybe I can do that too….why not.” This is going to be my third year running with WF, I’m really glad I joined the team because since then I’ve been learning so much about techniques and new ways to improve my running. I have done one full marathon and six half marathons so far. The first time I ran a race, I ran the Houston Half Marathon, I didn’t train well because I didn’t have any running buddies to guide me, and so besides not having a good time during the race, my finishing time was deplorable. After that race I found out about WF and joined the team, thank goodness!!! From that point on I got more efficient, and have been having lots of fun meeting and running with new people every year. Let’s face it, running is hard, why not make it easier by running with buddies that can keep your mind busy while your heart and body do the rest.

I have run 5 marathons, 4 half marathons and some shorter distant races. I also completed the "Marathons of Texas" challenge this past year. Running with Woodlands Fit has been the best thing for me and my training. I have met so many supportive people and great friends to run with. I couldn't have done it without them. I am looking forward to meeting new ones on our upcoming runs together. Here's to a start of a great and successful season!

Bob Bailey bob.bailey@gemsals Head Coach I have been associated with the Woodlands Fit program for three years now. For three years prior to joining Woodlands Fit, my wife and I trained for the Houston marathons together. It was great to enjoy coffee in the morning and run when we decided to run, (Maybe not so much enjoyment on the long runs!). When our youngest son decided to run a marathon, we decided we needed a little more structure, so we joined Woodlands Fit. It was fantastic. We met so many people with the same interests. We traded coffee for cooler weather and new friends and we never looked back. This year four members of my family will run with Woodlands Fit as both of my sons will run with us. I have completed nine marathons since 2005 saving my best time for last year. I was the Reds’ head coach last year and I really look forward to running with the team again this year!

| Tad Chenet tchenet@swbell.net Assistant Coach I am looking forward to another marathon running season! This is my fifth year with Woodlands Fit and my second year as an assistant coach. I have been a recreational runner since college. But I never did more than a ten mile run until about 7 years ago. I trained myself for the first couple of half marathons and suffered greatly. I started looking around for a training program and discovered Woodlands Fit. I can tell you that this is a very good program to learn long distance running. If you stick with the program, you will be successful in completing a marathon. I keep coming back because of the friends I have made througth the program. So put on your running shoes and get started your next adventure. | ||

I have made many friends and have had the opportunity to walk many different half marathons throughout the state of Texas and in New Orleans. I have also participated in many fun charitable events. I am excited about assisting Diana as assistant coach for the walking group of Woodlands Fit. I look forward to another new season with many eager walkers who are anxious to cross that finish line!

Erica Falcon falconfitclubs@yahoo.com Head Coach Congratulations on your decision to join Woodlands Fit! Though this is my first season coaching with this program, I have been a runner for most of my life, and am an RRCA Certified Running Coach and ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. I ran cross-country and track at Rice University, and after taking a few years off when my three daughters (now a crazy but fun 6, 5 and 3) were born, I found myself sorely missing our sport and how great it made me feel. I began running again and have since completed three marathons, four half-marathons, and a variety of shorter distance races. The next half-marathon I plan to run is Rock-N-Roll San Antonio (November 14th), and my next marathon will be USA Fit (January 16th). I truly love my work; my passion is helping people become runners, and supporting those runners in achieving their goals and improving their fitness and quality of life. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
![]() | Robert Martinez robert.e.martinez@centerpointenergy.com Assistant Coach This will be my 3rd season with Woodlands Fit and first year as assistant coach. I really started running when I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic. Diabetes has killed many of my friends and relatives and I am trying to break the cycle. In 2005 I joined a running team at work and since then have completed numerous 5k's, 10k's and my first half marathon in 2008. I joined Woodlands Fit to complete my first marathon in 2009 and have also completed another 4 half marathons. I am blessed with a wonderful wife of 16 years and 5 children (all boys), so I keep running to keep up with their activities and to lead by example. I look forward to meeting more wonderful runners, helping you get to the finish line and on to a healthier life. Please feel free to contact me with questions.

![]() | Douglas Hanson dhanson97@yahoo.com Assistant Coach This will be my second season with Woodlands Fit and first year as assistant coach. I really got into running when I decided I would attempt the Houston Half Marathon in 2007 and have run 2 full, 20+ half marathons and countless “other” runs since then. I suppose there could be worse addictions! I have a few more half marathons lined up, along with a full marathon. My wife and I moved to the Woodlands when we got married last year and I love the vast number of trails to run throughout. We currently do not have any kids, but 3 horses and 2 dogs keep us plenty busy. Day job is serving as Controller for a computer software company. Looking forward to meeting everyone and a great season of running.

![]() | Bambi Cappelle lynn.cappelle@gmail.com Assistant Coach This is my first year to coach Woodlands Fit and I’m thrilled with the opportunity! I’ve been a runner for 20 plus years and have participated in several running events, but never a half marathon. Each year, my family and I set goals. My personal goal this year is to run at least one half marathon, maybe 2. I’m married to Patrick who loves and supports me in everything I do. We have a beautiful 4-year old daughter, Gracie who keeps us on our toes and two yellow labs, Ginger and Chase. Ginger and Chase are my running buddies on short run days. Cycling is another favorite hobby of mine. I have participated in the MS150 three times and served as a corporate team captain. Please contact me with any questions/comments. I look forward to meeting all of you and enjoying a fun running season!!!
| Jerry Reimer jerryreimer@att.net Assistant Coach My goal is to give back a full measure of all that I have received through Woodlands Fit. This program provided me with the structure and accountability to turn daydreams into accomplishments. Three years and 50 pounds ago, my only exercise was running behind. Uncounted 5k, several 5-mile and 10k races, and two half-marathons later, I surely now have adult onset athleticism. The most fun helping during the Spring 5k/10k program was seeing runners improve and achieve their goals, whether grand or small. I am inspired by these two quotes. "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start." - John Bingham. "Everyone is an athlete. The only difference is that some of us are in training, and some are not." - Dr. George Sheehan. May you have the courage to start, the dedication to train the athlete within you, and complete your first or next half-marathon race. | ||

I have been married for almost 30 magical years to Scott who coaches the blue/green group and we have one son who is 22. This will be my 6th year to coach and/or assistant coach the walkers with Woodlands Fit. I have enjoyed our many miles together and have made some wonderful friends.
